Written by ESC Author on 25 May 2022 Posted in Blog

Universities in the Netherlands have a long history of promoting access to higher education and inviting international students for their education in abroad. This is mirrored in the diverse range of Master's funding alternatives open in the Netherlands.

Fees and funding for study in netherlands can be found in this article. This includes an overview of the various types of funding offered to Dutch students and international postgraduates, as well as a guide to the expense of pursuing a Dutch Master's degree.

The majority of Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences (hogescholen) are public institutions with government-controlled tuition prices. This makes it possible for a significant number of students to pursue a Master's degree in the Netherlands.

Foreign students' master's fees at Dutch universities vary based on their nationality. You will spend the same statutory fees as a Dutch student if you are from the EU, EEA, or Switzerland. Suriname's citizens are included in this (a former Dutch country).

In the Netherlands, universities are permitted to determine their own foreign student costs. This frequently raises the price, with annual costs ranging from €8,000 to €20,000 on average (according to the institution and course).

For education in abroad, postgraduates have access to considerable financial aid. There is a student loan system in place, as well as some statutory grants.

Grants and credits for Master's students in the Netherlands

Students who study in netherlands are eligible to apply for student aid. This gives students paying the statutory tuition cost of up to €903 per month. This sum is divided into three parts: a standard loan, a supplementary grant (based on your financial situation), and a tuition price loan. After subtracting the cost of tuition, the monthly income for rent and living expenses comes to roughly €800.

International Graduate students may be eligible for student funding on the same terms as Dutch citizens in specific circumstances.
