Croatia is a beautiful country in South-Eastern Europe, located at the crossroads of the Adriatic Sea and the Pannonia plain. If you didn’t know, Croatia has a long list of high schools with affordable tuition rates for international students. It is also a popular tourist destination, with a lot of historical heritage, a mild atmosphere, high quality natural beauty and accommodation, gastronomic excellence and a decent supply of activities and entertainment to make your stay enjoyable.
The average cost of living in Croatia was estimated to be between EUR 400 and EUR 700, but to a significant extent it depends on the type of housing, facilities, books, shipping and other expenses. You will, of course, pay less or more on the basis of your spending habits. A residency permit will have to be received by international students.
This can be obtained in your country of origin via the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia or even through a nearby police agency when you arrive in the country. A visa request may be submitted to the diplomatic mission or consulate of the Republic of Croatia in your home country. Applicants from third-world countries can apply for a residence permit in one of two ways:
- Secondly, to the Republic of Croatia’s diplomatic mission or consulate in the country of origin of the tourist.
- And after entering Croatia, to the local police department and police station if the applicant is going to Croatia to study at a university as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate applicant.
Bear in mind that foreign students who send applications to the diplomatic mission or consulate of the Republic of Croatia must do so before they arrive in the country on time. The usual protocol can take up to three months or longer, including the approval process, and students may request this alternative from the diplomatic mission or consulate, in which case they will pay more. During their brief stay in Croatia, students who submit an application to the appropriate police department can do so upon entry.
